Water irrigation also known as ear syringing or ear irrigation, is a long established method used by healthcare professionals for safe and effective removal of earwax.
The procedure involves using an electronically controlled flow of warm water to dislodge and flush out wax, debris, or foreign objects from your ear canal.
It is a safe, non-invasive procedure to reduce the risk of injury or discomfort.
Microsuction also known as ear vacuuming is considered one of the gold standard methods for earwax removal.
It is a highly effective way to remove earwax and debris using a dry, gentle suction device. The clinician is able to directly view the ear canal and drum using magnifying loupes, increasing safety and reducing the risk of injury.
Microsuction is suitable for people with ear infections, perforations and previous surgery.
It is a slightly noisy procedure.
Manual earwax removal involves the use of specialised tools such as crocodile forceps, or a Jobson Horne probe to remove earwax from the outer part of the ear canal.
This method is particularly useful for precise removal of solid wax or foreign bodies that other techniques might not effectively achieve.
Manual removal is often used in conjunction with the more advanced techniques of water irrigation and microsuction.
